The 2019 Mercedes-Benz Power Roundup

A closer look at 3 of the most powerful models from Mercedes-Benz

After one hundred years of automotive engineering evolution, the modern driver deserves modern power. Mercedes-Benz of Silver Spring understands, so this month, we’re honoring the top three most powerful models in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. And the winners are… (Please imagine a drumroll in your head.)

Most Horsepower

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG® GT R Coupe (pictured above and below) is a masterpiece of automotive engineering. This precision machine uses a handcrafted 4.0-liter AMG® V8 biturbo engine to produce an astonishing 577 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Speed enthusiasts may tear up at the site of this masterpiece of engineering going 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds, which is less time than it took you to read this sentence.

Most Towing Capacity

The legendary Mercedes-AMG G-Class SUV (pictured below) isn't far behind. Also equipped with a beefy 4.0-liter AMG® V8 biturbo engine, this monster can put out 577 horses and 627 lb-ft of torque. This recognizable luxury SUV cruises over mountains as easily as it does down the interstate. Not only can it accelerate from 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds, but it can also tow up to 7,700 lbs. when properly equipped. That’s a boat or a couple of jet skis on a trailer (AKA "an incredibly fun way to spend a weekend").

Most Powerful Hybrid

The 2019 GLC 350e 4MATIC Plug-in Hybrid SUV’s combination of 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and an 85 kW electric motor is a technological achievement. This modern marvel puts out an impressive combined 315 hp, and it accelerates from 0 to 60 in 6.2 seconds. In addition, an E-BOOST feature lets the electric motor raise total torque up to 413 lb-ft, so drivers enjoy enthusiastically responsive (and environmentally responsible) power. It's not just fast, either—it gets an amazing 75 MPGe on the highway, too.*

But the GLC 350e better watch its back, because Mercedes-Benz recently teased the next evolution in all-electric driving with its forthcoming EQ lineup. The automaker will release several models over the next few years, each with cutting-edge all-electric powertrains. The first of these will be the 2020 Mercedes-Benz EQC (pictured below), an immaculate and innovative SUV. The all-wheel drive powertrain will consist of two asynchronous electric motors with compact electric drivetrains at each axle, powered by an 80kWh lithium-ion battery, producing up to 402 hp and 564 lb-ft of torque. That instant torque will deliver an exciting 0-60-mph time of just 4.9 seconds. What a time to be alive.

These are just the top three models on our list, and there are many more feats of strength from Mercedes-Benz we would love to tell you about. So come see us at Mercedes-Benz of Silver Spring or contact us today to learn more about the powerful options we have in our showroom.
