1) More range
The S 560 e has an approximate all-electric range of 25 miles, which is impressive for a luxury vehicle. Although the battery size remains the same, the new lithium-ion battery has an increased rated capacity of 13.5 kWh. This extremely efficient battery system comes from the Daimler subsidiary Deutsche ACCUMOTIVE for the first time. U.S. range and motor specifications will be announced later, at the time of launch.
2) More power
The S 560 e hybrid system combines the 362 horsepower of the V6 spark-ignition engine with an electric output of 90 kW, and it also produces 325 pound-feet of torque. The torque converter, electric motor, and clutch are housed in the updated hybrid drive unit. The powerful torque converter offers smooth, effortless acceleration when in hybrid mode.
3) Pre-entry climate control
Who wouldn't want to be able to press a button and have your vehicle be set to the perfect temperature before you even open its door? With the 2019 S 560 e, the extended pre-entry climate control lets you do just that. Pre-set your vehicle with the heating or air conditioning settings that you'd like, and type in a departure time (for example, through the Mercedes me app), and your S 560 e will be ready and waiting at just the right temperature.
4) Intelligent operating strategy with ECO Assist
ECO Assist is an intelligent operating system that provides drivers with driving recommendations based off of speed limits, route profiles, and distance from other vehicles. This clever feature continuously generates coasting simulations in the background as you drive, judging whether it is safer to have the vehicle coast freely or decelerate so that the battery can be efficiently charged. The S 560 e model's intelligent safety assistants will also provide navigation and traffic sign recognition.
5) An extraordinary plug-in hybrid powertrain
The S 560 e sports an electric motor developed in conjunction with Bosch, one specifically designed to work with its 9G‑TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission. Thanks to clever positioning of its internal components, the S 560 e's powertrain is able to deliver a smooth, powerful drive. We expect nothing less from a Mercedes-Benz.
