Mercedes-Benz Plans to Electrify Lineup by 2022

Here at Mercedes-Benz of Silver Spring, there are a lot of things we love about Mercedes-Benz models. Style, performance, and luxury are all clear priorities to the brand, and with a recent announcement by Mercedes-Benz chief Dieter Zetsche, it's clear that alternative powertrains will also become a key feature of Maserati as well.
A "shocking" announcement
Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will be joining the charge (if you'll pardon the pun) towards electrification. The brand plans to have all vehicles in its lineup offer either hybrid or fully electric options by 2022, which will result in at least 50 new electrified models.
Benefits of going fully electric
Although some may have doubts about the power of electric and hybrid vehicles, the team at Mercedes-Benz of Silver Spring is excited Mercedes-Benz is making the switch. More than simply saving on gasoline, electric vehicles offer a number of performance benefits that the average driver may not expect. An electric motor offers near-instant torque upon touching the accelerator, for example, not to mention the fact that low battery placement can improve the vehicle's center of gravity and improve agility.
Although we have some time to wait to see the fruits of the new Mercedes-Benz philosophy, the automaker's current lineup is still pretty exciting.
